Second Chance Center Graduate Successes

"I have been drinking since I was 15 and have had a problem with alcohol for 14 years. I used to like to drink and drive. I was on my 6th DUI charge and was incarcerated at a detention center for 3 months. Life in the detention center was rough - I witnessed one guy get very badly beaten up because of a dispute over an orange.

"My lawyer recommended I come to the Second Chance Center and do the program here. This place is "heaven" compared to being at the detention center. I worked hard and completed the program in a little less than 6 months. I found the detoxification in the sauna very beneficial.

"I have realized that alcohol has never given me anything but problems. I now see the disappointment I have caused my family. I am more aware of what was going on in my life to create the problems I had. I now want to stay clean and I never want to be in jail again.

"I am very grateful that the Second Chance Center gave me the opportunity to be here and do the program."

"Now, if you look at my body I had; nicotine, anesthesia (from surgery), steroids (from football), marijuana, meth-amphetamines, cocaine, heroine, psych medications, alcohol, LSD, PCP, and various other mood altering substances. The sauna detoxification process changed all of that. Where I once had aches and pains from cravings, now I have happiness and a drug free existence.

"I truly learned what had held me back from accomplishing great things in my life: ME. With the information I received in this program I put myself in a powerful condition - I learned the tools to have true control over my destiny.

"It has been said that once a man loses his self-respect he is capable of unspeakable evil. I am living proof of that. I believe that once the same individual gains his self-respect back he is able to accomplish incredible good. I now have my self-respect back and am a stronger, better person because of it. Because I have gained my self-respect back I have made it my life long quest to help others to find their way back."
J.M.

"The Second Chance program will actually help to better my life. I have been to many programs and none of them have given me the tools to be confident and have the intention to actually want to stay clean from drugs, or to know what got me in trouble and know how to stay away from those situations. I now know how to handle those situations so that I don't make poor judgments."
S.M.

"I’m very happy that I was sent here to this program because I know that when I get out, I’ll do well. This program is well worth doing instead of going to jail. By going to jail I wouldn’t have gotten rehabilitation. Being in jail, to me, is just a waste of time – just like any bad thing I was doing."
D.M.

"I have been drinking and driving for 20 years. Because of my problem with alcohol I have lost jobs, lost relationships, lost my house, been fined, and been in and out of jail.

"My first jail time was 6 months in county jail. It sucked. There were lots of fights, and the guys were always stealing things from each other. It was a constant struggle for survival.

"Being in jail didn’t handle my alcohol problem. When I got out of jail I started drinking again. Then I started drinking and driving again. Then I was caught again.

"The last time I was charged I was facing 5 years in prison. I found out about the Second Chance Center and the rehab program there. I wanted to give it a try rather than go to prison.

"It was an intense program but I put my mind to it so I would get the most out of it. After the sauna and detoxification section of the program I felt clean. I felt like I had finally gotten the remnants of the years of alcohol out of my body. I felt healthier and I had more energy.

"I learned really beneficial life skills on the program; principles to succeed in life. I worked out how to live a better life without drugs and alcohol. I know I can now achieve what I want in life. I now want to help my family. I want to be there for them. I am setting up my life so the things of the past won’t happen to me again."

"It was great to be able to come to the Second Chance program. It has helped me change my way of thinking. Before all I would think about was how I was going to get my next high. Now I learned how to communicate with people and I will be able to confront anything that gets in my way. But my biggest win is that I got my self-respect back."

"What I got out of this program is that I got my sense of responsibility back, knowing what is right for me and everyone around me. With the sauna program, I found myself feeling like I did before I ever took that first drink or drug. I feel great, especially about myself. The world is waiting for me and I know what is best for me."
A.G.

"This has been a life changing experience for me. I am a new person. I’ve gained my self-respect back and I have honor and pride. I feel great, like never before. I see a bright future ahead using the tools I learned. I know I’m going to stay clean and have a happy life."

"I am 29 years old and for 12 of those years I used drugs daily, even while in County jail. I thank God for taking me on the road that led to the Second Chance Program. I actually started making an effort to help myself based on the things I learned at the Second Chance Program. I am now a responsible father and once again a beloved brother to my sisters. My Mother and Father now have the son they knew 15 years ago before I used drugs. I am clean and proud of whom I am. I once again love myself. This has been the happiest time in my life."
L.C.

"I just feel like the sauna was the best and greatest thing that I have been through. I have no more craving from any drugs. I really feel good about that. The sauna really made me see things in a whole different perspective. I never felt this clean and pure in my life ever before. It is a really good thing."
