Sentenced Rehab

Second Chance Center may be an option for individuals with an alcohol or drug abuse problem who are facing jail or prison time.

Through judicial referral, a person can be sentenced to the Second Chance Center while: (1) awaiting trial, (2) at sentencing, or (3) if already sentenced, within 90 days of the sentencing a change on the judgment and sentence can be done sentencing the individual to the Second Chance Center as an alternative.

Here are the steps to follow for admission to the Second Chance Center:

Pre-Conviction

    If you have been arrested for a criminal charge and have an alcohol or drug problem you can seek admission to Second Chance Center pending disposition of the charges by doing the following:
  1. Submit an application to Second Chance Center;
  2. Our Intake Manager will conduct a phone interview with you, complete a background check and procure your medical records;
  3. If admitted, you will be sent an acceptance letter and this letter should be forwarded to your attorney;
  4. Your attorney should get the conditions of release changed so you can report to and complete the program at Second Chance Center (approximately 6 months) pending disposition of the charges;
  5. Your attorney should get an order allowing you to report to the program within a certain time period. If the Judge requires you to have secure transport to the Center this can be arranged with the help of the Center, at your expense;
  6. Second Chance Center will provide notice of your arrival at Second Chance to the Court and monthly reports of your progress;
  7. After your successful completion of the program, a final report will be provided to you and this report can be used to obtain a favorable disposition of your criminal proceeding.

Post Conviction

    If you have been convicted of a crime through plea or conviction after trial, or have violated probation, and you have a drug or alcohol problem you should do the following:
  1. Submit an application to Second Chance Center;
  2. Our Intake Manager will conduct a phone interview with you, complete a background check and procure your medical records;
  3. If admitted, you will be sent an acceptance letter and this letter should be forwarded to your attorney;
  4. Your attorney should ask that you be ordered to enter and successfully complete the program at Second Chance Center either pending final sentencing or as a condition of probation;
  5. If it is a condition of probation, you should be placed on unsupervised probation;
  6. Your attorney should get an order allowing you to report to the program within a certain time period. If the Judge requires you to have secure transport to the Center this can be arranged with the help of the Center, at your expense;
  7. Second Chance Center will provide the Court notice of your arrival, monthly progress reports and a final report of completion.

We only accept sentencing that stipulates the completion of the program. This is because it is important to complete all steps of the program to get the full result. Failure to fully complete the program does affect the effectiveness of the overall result of the program and impacts the effectiveness of the Reintegration Module.
